I see myself as a family doctor in the best sense of the word. I want to use all my knowledge and skills to help people of all ages, from the very young to the very old, to become and remain physically, mentally, and socially healthy in the long term. For this reason, it is important to me to work with the people who come to me to gain an overview of all their complaints and stresses and to maintain this overview throughout the course of treatment. For this reason, topics such as important relationships (partnership, family, friends, etc.), job satisfaction, basic feelings about life, etc. are also very important to me in treatment. These topics have been shown (including in scientific studies) to be essential factors for lasting health or illness.
In my work, I am therefore not only concerned with prescribing medication, but also with finding other valuable levers for achieving sustainable results—e.g., resolving important relationship issues, improving work-life balance, integrating exercise and sleep better into one’s own life, and much more. I also know that this is not always easy and that motivation and support are needed along the way. In my experience, statements such as “You should exercise more” are usually ineffective as the sole form of support.
I find my work most enjoyable and successful when people work with me as a team to achieve sustainable health.
